Jeff Curtes Photo 3 December 2008

Independent action, lifestyle, portrait, and location photography
Jeff Curtes has been at the forefront of the snowboarding industry’s imagery since his first published images back in 1992. In 1994, Curtes signed with Burton Snowboards and has been their Principle Photographer to date, an unprecedented 14 years behind the lens on the snow.
Jeff’s work with Burton, originating with action-centric images, were unique in that they came from within the core snowboarder’s lifestyle, as he was living and breathing snowboarding with his brother Joe Curtes as they traveled West from the Midwest to the Mountains of the West Coast. Burton allowed Curtes to travel the world in search of the epic conditions that every snowboarder dreams of and in return Curtes’ camera delivered an overwhelming collection of photographs to their lighttable. Images that not only made incredible advertising and catalog content, but defined a subculture and captured the early history of snowboarding like none before.
Curtes’ images have published both editorially and commercially worldwide; titles as Transworld Snowboarding, Snowboarder Magazine, Outside, COG, Raygun, and clients such as Burton Snowboards, K2, Salomon, Nike, HP, SAP, etc..the list goes on and on.
Jeff has published two books, BLOWER: Snowboarding Inside Out by Booth-Clibborn Editions is THE definitely look at Snowboarding and the lifestyle that surrounds it, and most recently, 28 Day Winter by PowerHouse Books in Brooklyn, a unique three week project taking place in New Zealand a few years ago.
Curtes chooses Portland, Oregon as his home base where he lives with his Australian wife, Photographer Jess Mooney. When not shooting or traveling, Jeff can be found riding his bike and playing in the snow.
